Family Therapy
Family shapes who we are—for better and worse—quietly teaching us our language, our rhythms, and the lens through which we come to see the world.
Stressful events and life transitions can affect and strain family relationships. Family therapy brings parents, siblings, caregivers, and extended family members into the treatment process. During family therapy, you and your family can explore family roles and patterns of behavior in order to gain a deeper understanding of how to create the change you seek and to teach skills to deepen and/or repair family connections. You can also learn skills to improve family communication and express difficult emotions respectfully.
As a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, we will access your family strengths in order to assist you in identifying solutions to family problems or difficult dynamics. It can be helpful to hold each family member accountable for creating change toward the family goals. We only have control over our own responses to others, and therefore, when one or more individuals change their own reactions and behaviors, the family dynamic must respond in a new way.
