FAQs
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own.
You don’t have to figure this out on your own. When something isn’t working, it makes sense to look for support. In our work together, I’ll help you get clear on what’s actually happening, identify the strengths you already have, and use them in ways that make the challenges you’re facing feel more manageable and less consuming.
What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
A therapist brings training, experience, and an objective perspective. You’ll gain new skills, explore your situation in a different way, and be heard without judgment or expectations. Therapy is also completely confidential—you don’t have to worry about others knowing your business. And unlike personal relationships, therapy gives you a consistent place to process difficult emotions without it affecting your connection with the people in your life. You will also have a safe, compassionate space to let go and get real.
Why shouldn’t I just take medication?
Medication can help stabilize what you’re feeling, while therapy helps you understand and shift the patterns underneath—together, they often lead to more lasting change. Research shows that therapy and medication are similarly effective on their own, but when combined, they lead to higher improvement rates and more lasting results over time.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. Just come as you are and I will tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. What I can guarantee is that at Tango & Co. Therapy, you will feel safe, empowered, and definitely have a laugh or two.
How long will it take?
Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. Most clients will find some relief even after one session.
Is your rescue Dog Tango involved in sessions?
Unfortunately no. Although Tango would absolutely love to be here, he is not certified therapy dog. He does understand what it is like to feel loss, pain, and HOPE. Tango would be thrilled to show off his latest antics in photos, just ask!
